Rick Light is the founder and guiding force behind W.R.A.M. – Well Regulated American Militias. We go over the commonly asked questions, what is a militia, why is a militia important, what does it do? And is a Constitutional Militia different from the others?
Before the United States was formed, in the Colonial days, every able-bodied man was part of a militia, as a matter of course. The militia protected and defended the communities, and was such an important part of the American Colonies, that the Militia of the Separate States was enshrined in the Constitution, as one of only 6 permanent institutions. The other 5 are The States, The United States, The Congress, The President and The Supreme Court.
The right to bear arms, guaranteed by the Constitution and our Bill of Rights, makes our country different from others. Our right and duty to have a citizen’s militia to help protect our Freedoms, is also inherent in our founding documents. It is critically important that Americans understand, that forming militias is vital to preserve and protect our freedoms, and to deter the usurpation of power, and tyranny of the Government. Militias also need to be formed in a Constitutional and legal manner. Working through the framework of the law is necessary.
Rick has been in this movement over 21 years, and has gone through the process to work with his county Sheriff, judge and commissioners to establish a county militia that works with the local law enforcement, to help ensure peace for the community. A Constitutional Militia, established in this manner, is no threat to anyone who loves Liberty, Freedom and our Constitution. As this movement grows, the return to our Republican form of government becomes more and more possible.
